Shafer Center offering 'Green Dot' training
SUMMARY: April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the Schaefer Center for Crisis Intervention in Pine Belt is working to break the stigma by encouraging everyone to get involved. They provide counseling and resources for victims of sexual assault, emphasizing the importance of being an active bystander to prevent or stop sex-related crimes. Every 68 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted, with one out of every six women and about 3% of men being victims. The Green Dot training empowers the community to intervene by being direct, delegating, or distracting in situations of potential harm. Taking action can make a difference in reducing the number of victims.
