Mississippi removes thousands of people from Medicaid as it examines post-pandemic eligibility

SUMMARY: Mississippi has removed over 29,000 people from Medicaid as the program begins reviewing eligibility after the end of the pandemic public health emergency. This accounts for just over 3% of the state's Medicaid enrollees. The state expects further decreases in enrollment as eligibility is reviewed. During the pandemic, federal law prevented states from removing people from Medicaid, but now that the public health emergency has ended, states have one year to assess eligibility. Nationwide, more than 1 million people have been removed from Medicaid, with many cases attributed to failure to complete paperwork.

SHS seniors take final stroll through elementary school halls

SUMMARY: The senior class at Starkville High School participated in an annual “Senior Walk” where they visited all schools in the district to see former teachers and receive well wishes from current students. They were cheered on by students as they walked through the halls, taking pictures along the way. This stop was at Henderson Ward Stewart, where students in grades two to four showed their support.
