Mississippi Power began their preparations today for Ida's landfall.
The team has recently gotten off a storm call to make sure all of the employees know their storm roles and plan for Ida.
Mississippi Power is also bringing in about 1,000 resources including line crews, support personnel, and vegetation management.

Advancing STEM Education: PRCC Students earn stipend awards from Mississippi Space Grant Consortium
SUMMARY: Five Pearl River Community College students have been awarded the Mississippi Space Grant Consortium STEM Student Stipend Award for 2024, receiving $750 each. The recipients were selected based on their involvement in the STEM Club, coursework, service to the school and community, and recommendations by instructors. The students, Noah Bowman, Brennin Carlisle, Mason Holladay, Destiny Taylor, and Sydney Thornton, expressed gratitude for the award and shared their educational and career goals. USM Students Plant Trees for Earth Day Celebrations

MGCCC celebrates success at 2024 State SkillsUSA Competitions
SUMMARY: Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College students excelled at the 2024 State SkillsUSA Competitions, with winners in both secondary and postsecondary categories. In the secondary division, students from George County High School's Emergency Medical Technology program dominated, with Bishop Ladnier and Rayne Bexley winning gold in EMT and Amy Smith placing third in CPR. In the postsecondary category, MGCCC students Emmanuel Reyes, Bruce Bradley, Liliane Bullock, and Piper Haag also showcased their skills, with Haag winning gold in Baking and Pastry. The winners will advance to the National SkillsUSA Championships in Atlanta. Congratulations to all the winners and gratitude to their instructors and supporters.
