MHP’s 1034 Project: Supporting troopers’ mental health
SUMMARY: Work-life balance is important for law enforcement officers, but often they struggle with leaving their job at work, which can strain family life and relationships. To address this, the Mississippi Highway Patrol has implemented the 1034 Project, which provides state troopers with tools to deal with the emotional toll of their work. It also offers resources for their families to better understand and support them. Major Johnny Poulos, Director of the 1034 Project, emphasizes the need to normalize the conditions and situations that law enforcement officers face. The Highway Patrol is also working on recruitment and retention efforts.
