The Jackson has secured $3 million for the raises, with $1.4 million coming from their own budget and $1.6 million from the city. To up the , 31 positions in the fire department have been frozen. Although it is not exactly what firefighters had originally asked for, they see it as a positive step forward. Each position will receive a raise of about $7,000, starting from October 1, 2023.
