Mississippi governor requesting federal assistance following April storms
SUMMARY: Mississippi's Governor Tate Reeves is requesting federal aid from FEMA for Hancock, Hinds, Humphreys, Madison, Neshoba, and Scott counties after severe weather including 13 tornadoes struck from April 8-11, resulting in property damage and two fatalities. The storm inflicted significant damage on a number of homes across these counties, prompting the call for individual assistance programs, which could include grants for housing repairs and low-interest loans for uninsured losses. Reeves emphasized the importance of the federal support in helping the state and its residents recover from the destruction caused by the storms.
