Governor signs bill regulating water billing throughout the state

Governor Tate Reeves has signed a bill into guaranteeing billing rates throughout the will be applied solely on the basis of consumption.

House Bill 698, authored by Rep. Shonda Yates, I-, prohibits municipalities from charging for water based off of the property value of one's home, also known as equity billing. Instead, citizens will be charged based on the amount of water consumed, or used, in the home.

SUMMARY: A woman died in a house fire in County, Mississippi. The fire was responded to by the Gluckstadt and the Farmhaven Volunteer Fire Department. Man arrested in Rankin County for trafficking 22 pounds of fentanyl

SUMMARY: A man was in Rankin County, Mississippi after deputies discovered 22 pounds of fentanyl during a traffic stop on Interstate 20. The driver, Arturo Gonsen-Miranda, was charged with aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance. The arrest was made after the deputies developed probable cause that the driver may be involved in drug trafficking. A K-9 partner named “Voodoo” alerted on the vehicle, leading to the discovery of two false compartments where the fentanyl was found. Gonsen-Miranda was taken to the Rankin County Jail, and no bond has been set for him at this time.

This initiative aims to revitalize the properties and transform them into assets for the community.
