75% of Mississippi third graders pass reading test in 2024

SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Education announced that 75.7% of third graders passed the initial administration of the reading assessment for the 2023-24 school year. This percentage is similar to the pass rate for the previous year and higher than the rate before the pandemic. who do not pass the initial test have up to two more attempts to retest. Gulfport teen charged with 2 counts of capital murder

Bond denied for man charged in Jackson park homicide

SUMMARY: Nineteen-year-old Daveon Lindsey appeared in court for the murder of Melvin McNair, Jr. at a park.
