Advocates call on Mississippi lawmakers to pass Medicaid expansion
SUMMARY: Advocates in Mississippi are pushing for full Medicaid expansion, urging legislators to come to an agreement. The main issue is the inclusion of a work requirement in the plans proposed by the House and Senate Medicaid expansion conferees. Progress has been made, but a final agreement has not been reached yet. Advocates emphasize the importance of not delaying or jeopardizing the issue, as it affects working-class people who need assistance. Despite the federal government not approving a Medicaid expansion plan with a work requirement, lawmakers are urged to prioritize the needs of those who rely on Medicaid.
