Earthquake in New Jersey shakes parts of Northeast

SUMMARY: A 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit near Lebanon, New Jersey, shaking the New York City metropolitan area and other parts of the Northeast. There were no initial reports of damage, but officials are still assessing the impact. People in upstate New York, Baltimore, and Connecticut also felt the quake. There is no risk of a tsunami. Residents are advised to leave the area and call 911 if they observe structural damage or smell gas. The largest earthquake felt in New Jersey was in 1783, and the Friday quake reminded some of the 2011 earthquake that jolted millions of people along the East Coast.

SHS seniors take final stroll through elementary school halls

SUMMARY: The senior class at Starkville High School participated in an annual “Senior Walk” where they visited all schools in the district to see former teachers and receive well wishes from current students. They were cheered on by students as they walked through the halls, taking pictures along the way. This stop was at Henderson Ward Stewart, where students in grades two to four showed their support.
