Debate question: Medicaid expansionDebate question: Medicaid expansion
SUMMARY: The issue of Medicaid expansion in Mississippi is generating a lot of interest and disagreement between Brandon Presley and Tate Reeves. They disagree on whether the governor has the authority to expand Medicaid on day one of office. Presley argues that the governor can file for a Section 11-15 waiver and that the Division of Medicaid is under the governor's office. They also have opposing views on how many people will be covered under the healthcare safety net and the impact it would have on private insurance. Additionally, they disagree on the potential savings and impact on rural hospitals if Medicaid is expanded.
