Columbus Light, Water alerts customers about rate hike

SUMMARY: Columbus Light and in Mississippi has warned customers of a rate hike. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) board decided in August to raise its wholesale electric base rate by 4.5%, which will take effect from October 1. This increase is expected to result in an average $3.50 increase in customers' bills. Any utility or cooperative that purchases electricity from TVA will be affected by the increase. The rate hike is necessary to the growing demand for TVA . Additionally, 4-County Electric has also stated that its members may see a slight increase to offset rising costs for supplies and equipment.
