Columbus city officials approve purchase of artificial Christmas tree
SUMMARY: The City of Columbus in Mississippi will be starting a new Christmas tradition this year by purchasing an artificial Christmas tree. The decision was made because repair work on the Old River Bridge may block access to the tree that the city has been using in previous years. The new tree will be 22 feet tall, pre-lit, and custom-built, with the option to add to it in the future. The tree will be sponsored by Oak Bridge Insurance, with a sign in front of it acknowledging their support. Without their sponsorship, the city may not have been able to afford a tree.
