Medicaid expansion still up in the air
SUMMARY: As the deadline for Medicaid expansion in Mississippi approaches, House and Senate members are struggling to reach a compromise. House Minority Leader Robert Johnson proposed removing the work requirement for reapplication, but the Senate has not agreed. Despite last-minute efforts and discussions, no concrete proposal has been accepted. Lawmakers have until 8 p.m. to make a decision before the bill dies. Faith leaders are urging action, but it seems unlikely that a resolution will be reached. The Senate is currently in session, but it is uncertain if Medicaid will be discussed. The fate of Mississippians' access to full Medicaid expansion hangs in the balance.
