Aberdeen alderwoman watches from jail as challenger defeats her in runoff
SUMMARY: From her jail cell, Aberdeen alderwoman Lady Garth witnessed her electoral defeat by Rhonda Moore in a runoff election. Garth, a figure familiar with controversy, was serving a five-day sentence upheld by the Mississippi Supreme Court for disturbing the peace. Previously, she had tried to order the removal of a board member unlawfully during a meeting in September 2022. Additionally, Garth faced arrest for allegedly assaulting a poll worker on April 5. Despite bonding out, she was taken into custody again before the runoff, where Moore, known for community involvement, won by an approximate margin of 70 votes.
