US Supreme Court won't hear lawsuit tied to contentious 2014 Senate race in Mississippi
SUMMARY: A lawsuit filed by the family of a man who killed himself after being arrested and accused of providing information to people who snuck into a nursing home has been denied by the U.S. Supreme Court. The man's image appeared briefly online during the 2014 Republican primary for U.S. Senate in a video that accused then-Senator Thad Cochran of having an affair while his wife had dementia. The lawsuit alleged that the defendants, including the mayor of Madison and others, were part of a network of Cochran supporters who pushed for the man's arrest. The accused may face up to 20 years in prison and $5,000 in fines.
The U.S. Supreme Court says it will not consider a dispute over a lawsuit filed by the family of a Mississippi lawyer who took his own life.
