Housing Grant to help Foster Children return to Families
SUMMARY: Multiple organizations in the Mississippi area are implementing a plan to help families experiencing homelessness and keep children out of the foster care system. In the 14 Coastal counties, 165 children have been separated from their families due to inadequate housing. New studies show that removing children from their homes can be harmful to their development. A grant will now provide housing to 52 families for three years, giving them a chance to be reunited. The goal is to prevent children from being removed from their homes due to poverty, and instead focus resources on children who are experiencing severe neglect and can't return to their parents. This will also save funds and resources for children in need.
