Basketball roundup: Biloxi sweeps Moss Point; Pass tourney underway
SUMMARY: The 2023-2024 prep basketball campaign began with Moss Point facing off against Biloxi and Ocean Springs battling Vancleave. Biloxi swept both varsity games against Moss Point, with Reggie Connor and Zaniya Johnson leading the way for the Indians. Meanwhile, D'Iberville also swept St. Patrick in their season opener. In Pass Christian, the first night of the PCHS Round Robin Tournament saw Hancock girls defeating Presbyterian Christian and Pass Christian boys narrowly defeating Hancock. The tournament continues with four more games on Thursday and wraps up with four more varsity games on Saturday.

Three softball Wildcats named All-Region 23
SUMMARY: Three Pearl River Community College softball members, Lainee Bailey, Natalie Herrington, and Morgan Lavergne, were named to the All-Region 23 team. Bailey, notable for her powerful batting, achieved a .431 batting average with 18 home runs and 61 RBIs. Herrington, also named First Team All-MACCC and MACCC Pitcher of the Year, posted a 1.69 ERA and a 20-4 record with 184 strikeouts. Lavergne excelled at the top of the lineup, hitting .386 with seven homers and 34 RBIs. Head coach Christie Meeks praised each for their exceptional performance and hard work throughout the season.
