Legislative Black Caucus wants Rankin County deputies indicted
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Legislative Black Caucus is calling for accountability in the Michael Jenkins case, where Jenkins and Eddie Parker were allegedly beaten, tortured, and sexually assaulted by members of the Rankin County Sheriff's Department. The caucus sent a letter to Attorney General Lynn Fitch requesting the indictment of all involved members. Representative Christopher Bell criticizes Fitch's silence on the matter, stating that it is important to address the lives of these young African American men. A $400 million federal lawsuit has been filed for damages. Fitch's office has not responded to requests for comment.
