Biloxi wants to curb spring break violence. What could new city regulations look like
SUMMARY: Biloxi's city council is proposing several ordinances aimed at addressing issues that arose during this year's Black Spring Break, which saw a police officer and four others shot. The new legislation would create a Special Events Committee, which will recommend event requests for approval, conditional approval or denial by the mayor. Applications must include provisions for food and water, medical facilities, parking, sanitation, noise control, waste disposal, insurance and bonding arrangements. The legislation aims to limit the demand for city services and recover a portion of the event cost.

Paramedic Kayleigh Dunham and EMT Caroline Cash were finalists for the top honors, representing the company's Mississippi service area. Kayleigh, a native of Jackson County, is a Field Training Officer and recently promoted to a Paramedic Field Supervisor role. Caroline, who came from Pennsylvania, is studying to become a paramedic. Acadian Ambulance, one of the largest ambulance services in the nation, offers emergency and non-emergency transportation in multiple states and is employee-owned and accredited.
