Local movie critic predicts 2023 Oscar winners

The 95th Academy will be on Sunday at 7 p.m. CT with late-night television comedian Jimmy Kimmel serving as host for the third time.

Mississippi's own Tanya Taylor, a certified Critics Choice Awards voter, offered her perspective on the upcoming presentation during Friday's episode of Good Things with Rebecca Turner. Although Taylor believes many of Sunday's winners will be decided by a narrow threshold, she expects two films, in particular, to have a big night during the ceremony.

“I think the two big winners Sunday night will be ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once' and ‘Elvis,'” Taylor predicted.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once,” a sci-fi/adventure film, the list for most Oscar nominations garnered, one for best picture. “Elvis,” the film documenting the of the Mississippi native Elvis Presley, received eight nominations.

Woman sentenced for embezzling from Brandon High band booster funds

Woman accused of killing man during domestic incident in Vicksburg
