Lena Russell and her family were awakened by what felt like a tornado hitting their home, with trees falling and debris flying around. Despite the destruction, their livestock animals were unharmed. Russell and her son are working to clean up the fallen trees on their property, including dangerous cherry trees that are harmful to livestock. Russell, a bus driver for Lamar County Schools, had to cancel her route due to unsafe road conditions. Neighbors were also affected by the storm, including one family who were in a camper when it hit.
Lena Russell said once the storm got bad, she and her kids rushed to their hallway for safety, as trees were ripped up from their roots and tossed to the side.
