Jackson leaders consider closing zoo
SUMMARY: During a budget hearing, Councilman Aaron Banks suggested cutting funding to the Jackson Zoo due to concerns about the management of the zoo and the need to prioritize other city issues. It was mentioned that citizens contribute $1.8 million to the zoo, but the revenue generated is only $55,000. The zoo has faced challenges in recent years, including low visitor numbers, maintenance issues, and understaffing.
The Jackson Zoo could be on the chopping block to make sure the city has enough money to pay for other programs.

Awards were given for Caring Teen Volunteer of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. The hospital acknowledged that they hadn't been able to honor their volunteers since 2019, and expressed gratitude for their dedication. They also encouraged others to get involved by visiting their website for more information on volunteering opportunities at the hospital.

SUMMARY: An 18-wheeler crash on Interstate 59 South near the Evelyn Gandy exit has caused major delays, with one lane closed as emergency crews respond. The driver of the 18-wheeler, identified as 21-year-old Khalil Griffith, died in the crash. The North Forest volunteer fire department responded to the scene where smoke was seen coming out of the cab of the truck. Traffic has been stalled for hours as crews work to clear the scene. Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash, which happened around 7:00 a.m. near Monroe Road.

With teams from three Canadian provinces and now 35 states, including the addition of the Hattisburg Club, players have the opportunity to gain exposure and compete against the best in the country. Tryouts for MLS Next are coming up, offering a chance for players to showcase their skills and improve through competition. Joining a league with top talent will push players to develop and improve, benefiting all involved.
