Thousands of pounds of food donated during Pack the Pickup event
SUMMARY: Tonight's results at 10:00 PM reveal the success of the annual pack the pickup food drive at the Cadence B arena in Downtown Tupelo. Over 10 pickup trucks and more than 14,000 lbs of food were collected for local food banks, along with over $9,000 in donations. Toyota Mississippi also made a generous $7,500 contribution to support the hunger Coalition of Northeast Mississippi. The community's support for those facing food insecurities was evident, with many coming forward to donate. Partners such as Dosa big four and Food Giant, as well as generous individuals, made this event a success. Contributions can still be made by texting the word pickup to 443 anytime.

MCC GRADUATION CEREMONY

Storm damage across the metro
SUMMARY: Severe weather, including strong winds and heavy rain, caused major damage in Hinds, Madison, and Rankin counties. Trees fell on homes, power lines were knocked down, and power outages affected thousands of homes and businesses. One person was injured, and many others had close calls. Streets were impassable, and heavy rain caused a sinkhole in Belhaven. Flooding was also a problem in Clinton, with one family experiencing their home flooding for the fourth time in a year and a half. Crews worked to restore power and clear debris, while families were left figuring out their next steps amidst the destruction.
