Texas man sentenced for illegally obtaining loans in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Ganiyu Abayomi Jimoh, a Texas man, has been sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay restitution for illegally obtaining over $400,000 in government benefits through wire fraud. He conspired with others to open bank accounts in Mississippi using stolen personal information to fraudulently apply for multiple Economic Injury Disaster Loans. He received four direct deposits totaling $439,500 from the Small Business Administration. Jimoh, who was on federal bond at the time, traveled to Mississippi from Houston to visit different banks. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in November 2023, and the case was investigated by the United States Secret Service.

Voters head to polls to decide on CMSD $36M bond for renovations

Woman killed in Madison County house fire
SUMMARY: A woman died in a house fire in Madison County, Mississippi. The fire was responded to by the Gluckstadt Fire Department and the Farmhaven Volunteer Fire Department. It occurred at a mobile home on Barnes Road, resulting in the death of 53-year-old Wendy Parker. The Madison County Coroner, EOC, Sheriff's Office, and State Fire Marshal's Office also responded. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Additionally, a man was arrested in Rankin County for trafficking 22 pounds of fentanyl.
