Teen convicted in 2021 Jackson murder sentenced
SUMMARY: Jacob Terrell, 17, has been convicted and sentenced over the 2021 death of Teshundra Fortune in Jackson, Mississippi. He was 15 at the time of the murder. Hinds County's District Attorney Jody Owens said Terrell was sentenced to 35 years for second-degree murder and 20 years for aggravated assault. The sentences will run concurrently. Police responded to a report about a body in an abandoned apartment in March 2021 and later arrested Terrell, linking him to a separate aggravated assault committed around the same time.

Teen charged in death of 14-year-old in Jackson appears in court
SUMMARY: A teenager, John Foote, has been charged with murder for the shooting death of 14-year-old Cameron Horne-Crook in Jackson, Mississippi. During a preliminary hearing, Foote was denied bond. Two other teenagers, Maxle Mooneyham and Siyaski Crawford, were also arrested in connection to the shooting. Mooneyham was charged with tampering with evidence and Crawford with accessory to murder. Crawford admitted to moving the victim's body after the shooting. Additionally, Cameron Horne-Crook's brother, Bryson Horne, was also killed in a separate shooting incident in the area.

Woman sentenced for embezzling from Brandon High band booster funds
SUMMARY: Donna Gladney Floyd from Rankin County, Mississippi, was sentenced to 20 years in the custody of the MDOC after pleading guilty to embezzling $45,000 from the Brandon High School band booster funds. She will serve five years in prison followed by five years of probation, and has been ordered to pay court costs, restitution, and investigative fees. Floyd was scheduled to go to trial in 2024 but pled guilty in April 2024. Her arrest in 2023 followed an investigation prompted by the Rankin County School District and Brandon High School officials.

Woman accused of killing man during domestic incident in Vicksburg
SUMMARY: A woman in Vicksburg, Mississippi was arrested for the shooting death of a man, Hakeem Samall Burnett. The incident occurred on May 1 in the Grove Street and Hayes Street area. Police found Burnett with a gunshot wound and he later died at a local hospital. Rheuvonia Ramekia Buck, 41, was charged with murder in connection to the shooting, which is believed to be domestic-related. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation by authorities.
