Ceremony held for fallen police officers in north Mississippi

A ceremony at the Elvis Presley birthplace Museum in Tupelo honored fallen officers from Northeast Mississippi. Family members and fellow officers gathered to remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty, from recent years to as far back as 1947. Each name and face serves as a reminder of the importance of their work and the impact they can have on others.

Monday kicks off National Fallen Police Officers Week, a time for family, friends and fellow law enforcement officers to remember those that paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Belhaven softball earns invite into NCAA Tournament

SUMMARY: Belhaven University's softball team received a bid for the national tournament after a dominant year in Mississippi. The Blazers, ranked 19th nationally, will travel to Saint Louis for the WASU Regional and face off against Grinnell. Despite a disappointing loss in their conference tournament final, the team is determined to make a big run in the College World Series after falling short in the Super Regionals last year. The players are focused and have a strong work ethic, ready to compete and have fun while aiming to achieve their goals. They are eager to bounce back and make the most of this opportunity.

The fourth year in a row the Belhaven softball team is going to the Division III NCAA Tournament. The new goal is to make it out of the Super Regionals but first they'll need handle business in the Wash-U Regional this week. The Blazers open with Grinnell on Thursday.
