Sales tax collections in Starkville continue on steady increase
SUMMARY: Sales tax collections in Starkville, Mississippi have been steadily increasing since 2014. As of September, the city has collected over $121,000 more in sales tax compared to the previous year. The city also has a 2% food and beverage tax and a 2% hotel/motel tax, both of which have rebounded above pre-pandemic levels. The restaurant tax collections are currently more than $130,000 higher than last year. These tax collections contribute to funding city services, parks and recreation, and other improvements in Starkville.
