MSU students does community service cleanup
SUMMARY: The Black Student Association at Mississippi State participated in a community service cleanup in Starkville on Easter Saturday. The organization, known for community involvement, chose to clean up Mckee Park as their final event of BSA week. They collected leaves for the community garden's compost bin and plan to continue community service efforts in Starkville throughout the year. The Community Service Chair mentioned that BSA regularly participates in community service at least twice a month. The organization had a week filled with events for students and will post future volunteer opportunities on their Instagram page.

Ridgeland triple homicide suspect had long criminal history
SUMMARY: A mother and her two daughters were shot and killed in Ridgeland, Mississippi. The suspect, Ivory James Welch III, was involved in a gunfight with Arizona state troopers and was killed. The victims were identified as Ida Thomas Welch, 76; Vicky Renee Welch, 56; and Crystal Lynn Welch, 42. Ridgeland police Chief Brian Myers mentioned that Welch had a history of mental illness and previous encounters with law enforcement. The motive for the shooting is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing with the help of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Welch had an extensive criminal history of domestic assaults and simple assaults dating back to 2006.

Voters head to polls to decide on CMSD $36M bond for renovations
SUMMARY: Voters in the Columbus Municipal School District are being asked to pass a $36 million bond for renovations, with plans for upgrades in buildings including a new gymnasium at Stokes-Beard Elementary, installation of sprinkler systems, bathroom upgrades, and repaving the parking lot at Columbus High School. Crash on Natchez Trace kills one, seriously injures two others
SUMMARY: A fatal collision on the Natchez Trace in Prentiss County, Mississippi resulted in one death and two serious injuries. The accident occurred between 4 and 5 a.m. near mile marker 285 and involved two vehicles, one of which was pulling a boat. One person died at the scene, while two others were airlifted to area hospitals. Park rangers are currently investigating the accident, and further information, including the names of those involved, will be released by the Natchez Trace park rangers.
