SUMMARY: A mother and her two daughters were shot and killed in Ridgeland, Mississippi. The suspect, Ivory James Welch III, was involved in a gunfight with Arizona state troopers and was killed. The victims were identified as Ida Thomas Welch, 76; Vicky Renee Welch, 56; and Crystal Lynn Welch, 42. Ridgeland police Chief Brian Myers mentioned that Welch had a history of mental illness and previous encounters with law enforcement. The motive for the shooting is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing with the help of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. SUMMARY: A fatal collision on the Natchez Trace in Prentiss County, Mississippi resulted in one death and two serious injuries. The accident occurred between 4 and 5 a.m. near mile marker 285 and involved two vehicles, one of which was pulling a boat. One person died at the scene, while two others were airlifted to area hospitals. Park rangers are currently investigating the accident, and further information, including the names of those involved, will be released by the Natchez Trace park rangers.
