Millions of dollars pours into Mississippi since last year’s tornadoes
SUMMARY: Since last March's tornadoes, nearly $85 million in federal and state assistance has been provided to Mississippi. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has given over $13 million in housing and other needs assistance to help homeowners and renters with repairs, temporary rentals, personal property losses, and other damages. Monroe County has received $3.5 million and Montgomery County $840,000. FEMA is also working to provide RVs, mobile homes, and leased homes in six affected counties. Additionally, more than $51 million has been allocated to local and state agencies for disaster-related costs, and the Small Business Administration has approved over $20 million in low-interest disaster loans for homeowners and businesses.

Building back the rain chance
SUMMARY: The weather in Columbus, Mississippi will see a break in the rain on Thursday but clouds will start building in the late afternoon. Rain is expected to return late Thursday night and last through the weekend. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s overnight with a chance of patchy fog. Thursday daytime will be relatively nice and hot, with temperatures reaching the middle to upper 80s. Rain is expected to return on Friday with a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather threats, including gusty/damaging winds and hail.
