Conservationists construct 35-acre oyster reef in the Bay of St. Louis
SUMMARY: The Conservancy is building a 35-acre oyster reef in Bay St. Louis funded by BP oil spill restoration money. The reef consists of 11,000 limestone rock mounds creating a 3D habitat to support oyster reefs and attract recreational fishing opportunities. Named after local chef Tony Troan, construction is expected to be completed by the end of May, with the Conservancy planning to monitor the project for the next three years. Biloxi Councilman Robert Deming enters guilty plea to federal drug charges
