Insurance company that serves Mississippians suffers “data security incident”
SUMMARY: MCNA Insurance Company has announced it is reporting a data security incident affecting certain Mississippi residents. Upon discovery that an unauthorized party had gained access to MCNA systems, the company immediately launched an investigation in partnership with a leading security firm. MCNA discovered that systems within the network may have been infected with malicious code. Personal information involved in this incident may have included names, dates of birth, addresses, telephone and emails, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, health insurance information and billing and claims information. The company has notified affected individuals and offered complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services.

Two arrested for stealing AT&T internet lines in Adams County
SUMMARY: Two individuals, Joshua Peebles and Tiffany Vickers, were arrested in Adams County for stealing copper by cutting AT&T internet lines. This was the second time in two weeks that deputies had responded to internet lines being cut. The suspects admitted to stealing 143 feet of internet lines on both occasions. They were arrested in Claiborne County during a traffic stop, and stolen property and burglary tools were recovered. Peebles and Vickers are facing charges of felony possession of stolen property in Claiborne County, as well as grand larceny and larceny charges in Adams County, resulting in approximately $10,000 in damages from each incident.

MUW unveils edible plant trail
SUMMARY: Mississippi University for Women opened an edible plant trail with 25 plants on campus, aiming to educate visitors on the usefulness of these plants. Non-biology major students presented information on various plants, and participants were able to sample plants like violet leaves, spiderwart, green briar, and pecans. The school hopes to expand the edible plant trail in the future. The trail provides an opportunity for students and visitors to learn about the natural resources available on campus.
