Hyundai and Kia recall nearly 92,000 vehicles and tell owners to park them outside due to fire risk

SUMMARY: Hyundai and Kia are recalling nearly 92,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a potential fire risk caused by an electronic controller in the oil pump. The automakers are advising owners to park the vehicles outside and away from structures until repairs can be made. The recalls include certain 2023 and 2024 Hyundai and Kia models, the Palisades, Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, Kona, Soul, Sportage, and Seltos. The companies have reported incidents of melting components but no fires or injuries. Dealers will inspect and replace the oil pump controller as necessary. Owners will be notified in late September.
