High hopes for Gautier’s economic future
SUMMARY: Parker Boyd recently visited several new businesses in Gautier to see how they are doing. Richard Unger, a regular customer at Founding Father's Brunch Bakery, expressed how much he enjoys the bakery's pastries. Shauna Elzroth, owner of the bakery, mentioned that they have been steady since opening last month. Firearms is another new business in Gautier that recently had its ribbon cutting. Co-owner Joshua Rhoads mentioned that their goal is to help promote gun safety in the community. Mayor Casey Vaughan hopes that the opening of these new businesses will provide job opportunities and help boost the economy.
There are high hopes for the economic future in Gautier as new businesses are popping up.

Storm damage, power outages across the Coast and state
SUMMARY: Strong storms passed through South Mississippi with heavy rain, lightning, and power outages. Debris scattered along Highway 15 in George County and a tree went through a car's windshield in Brandon. In Alabama, a tornado touched down in DeKalb County, damaging at least 30 homes and injuring two people. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported, with officials attributing the lack of deaths to the preparations of first responders and citizens. Thousands lost power in the central part of the state, with reports of a transformer exploding. More damage photos and videos are available on WLx.com.
Storms passed through South Mississippi overnight and Friday morning. While the Coast has cleared, we're getting a look at just some of the damage left behind.

Health Corner: Osteoporosis Awareness & Prevention Month with Dr. Inez Kelleher
SUMMARY: May is Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month, with Dr. Kellerer from Memorial Health discussing signs, risk factors, and treatment options for osteoporosis. Approximately 10 million Americans have osteoporosis and 40 million are at risk. Factors like age, menopause, and lifestyle choices play a role in developing the disease. Building peak bone mass between ages 19-25 and maintaining it through diet, exercise, and calcium intake is crucial. Osteoporosis is a silent disease, often only detected after a fracture or loss of height. Treatment includes exercise, balance training, calcium, and vitamin D supplementation to prevent fractures and maintain bone health.
