Volunteers from Texas help rebuild South Mississippi man’s home after Hurricane damage
SUMMARY: A team of volunteers traveled from out-of-state to help restore a man's home in South Mississippi. David Martens, a longtime resident of Picayune, lost his home during Hurricane Ida in 2021. A tornado came through his area, causing damage to his house, including a huge oak tree limb crashing through his roof from the back. The volunteers came together to support Martens and assist in the restoration process. The biggest limb on the tree caused significant damage to his home.
In the storm's aftermath, 75 percent of the 920-square-foot property was left in ruins.
