Friday Night Football Showdown Part One (09/08/23)
SUMMARY: In the third edition of the Friday night football showdown, the Gulfport Admirals faced off against Madison Central and the Pascagoula Gators took on Goshay in the annual Singing River classic. The Gulfport Admirals took an early lead, but Madison Central had a strong second half to secure a 23-21 victory. In the Singing River classic, Goshay initially dominated, but Pascagoula staged a comeback to win 28-27. Picayune also had a successful trip to D'Iberville, winning 42-0, and Hancock defeated Saint Martin 42-7 in a dominant performance. The Bearcats and Bay were also in search of their first win of the season, and Bay came out on top with a 39-21 victory.

Nature Conservancy in Mississippi constructing Tony Trapani Oyster Reef
SUMMARY: A 35-acre oyster reef is being built in Bay St Louis as a recreational fishing spot and oyster landing ground. Agencies are working to repopulate oysters by creating places for them to attach and mature, with mounds of limestone being constructed vertically to serve this purpose. Tom Morman is spearheading the project, with the goal of oysters growing, reproducing, and drifting to commercial reefs downstream. The project is set to be completed in the next two to three weeks and is located just outside of Bay St Louis, south of the Wolf River.

Happening May 1-11: Spring Art Exhibit in Pascagoula
SUMMARY: The 45th Spring Art Exhibit and sale in Pascagoula is featuring a variety of artwork from different artists, including wood carving, mixed media, photography, pastel, drawing, and sculpture. The exhibit is open to counties in Mississippi and Mobile County in Alabama. The reception is free and open to the public on Friday, May 3rd, from 4:00 to 7:00, with refreshments and artists receiving awards. The exhibit will be on display until May 11th at the River Art Gallery on Delmas Avenue. The gallery features a range of artwork, including photography, pastel paintings, and woodworking pieces.
