‘Empty Bowls’ raised funds Saturday to keep Edwards Street food pantry shelves full
SUMMARY: The event, hosted from 7 to 10 PM tonight at Edwards Street Fellowship Center, takes place monthly to serve approximately 2,000 hungry families through a key annual fundraiser called “Empty Bowls.” The fundraiser was held in downtown Hattiesburg, where attendees selected from an array of ceramic bowls crafted by local potters. For a $25 ticket, they received a warm bowl of soup with bread and dessert, all donated by over twenty restaurants. Proceeds benefit the Edwards Street Food Bank, aiming to remind the community of the ongoing hunger issue and inspire people to help. SUMMARY: Jackson State head football coach TK Taylor will have an even more active role on the sidelines on the Talking Sports Live broadcast with Rob Jay and Jamie Horton. Taylor will be calling plays for the offense this season, drawing from his experience as an offensive coordinator. With last year's offensive coordinator Maurice Harris joining Auburn's staff, Taylor is stepping up to lead JSU's offense. He believes that if the team can score around 30 points per game, they have a good chance at playing for a championship. Taylor is excited to take on this role and showcase his skills as a play caller. Additionally, Wisconsin linebacker Chris Aura has been hired as JSU's new coach.

Coach Taylor broke the news on the Talking Sports Live broadcast on Wednesday night. He's been able to lead high scoring offenses in spot duty for JSU over the last few years when called upon. The goal is for the Tigers to put 30 points per game and he's done that as an offensive coordinator. Also Coach Taylor is bringing in former Carolina Panthers linebacker Chris Orr onto his coaching staff. The Wisconsin product will be the new linebackers coach.
