Debate is coming up
SUMMARY: This content discusses the key issues driving the contest for the governor's mansion in Mississippi. One of the main issues is the lack of access to adequate healthcare for many Mississippians. One candidate, Presley, criticizes Reeves for not expanding Medicaid, claiming it would provide coverage for over 200,000 uninsured people and prevent hospital closures. Reeves, on the other hand, argues that Medicaid expansion is unaffordable and instead proposes a $680 million plan to help struggling hospitals. The candidates also need to outline their detailed policies in the debate. Additionally, Presley accuses Reeves of corruption due to alleged ties to a welfare scandal involving former Governor Bryant and Brett Favre. Reeves recently received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump.
The gubernatorial debate is at 7 p.m. Wednesday on 16 WAPT.
