Crowd gathers in Columbus for National Day of Prayer
SUMMARY: Hundreds of people gathered at the Lowndes County Courthouse in Columbus, Mississippi for the National Day of Prayer events. Church and community leaders from various denominations led worship and prayers for the world and neighbors. Children sang songs of praise and this year's national theme is “Lift Up the Word – Light Up the World.” The National Day of Prayer legislation was first introduced in 1952, with President Ronald Reagan officially marking the day as the first Thursday in May in 1988. Aundrea Self offered a prayer for media and business leaders at the event.
