SUMMARY: 11 people have been killed in so far this year. believe being proactive is necessary to prevent further deaths. A recent homicide on Bay Street could have been preventable, according to Councilman Kenneth Stokes, who believes the city should have kept barricades in place. Chief Joseph Wade said it will take effort from the community to reduce in Jackson by half by the end of the year. Currently, there are no suspects in the Bay Street homicide.
