Columbus and Jackson unite in mourning loss of Monique Montgomery

SUMMARY: Monique Montgomery, a prominent member of the legal and religious communities in Columbus and , passed away after a brief illness. She had a successful career as a lawyer for nearly 25 years, working as a public defender in Clay County. Montgomery and her husband, Rev. Tony Montgomery, led Missionary Union Baptist Church in Columbus for 22 years before moving to Jackson in 2019 to Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church. She will be remembered in a memorial on Thursday at Greater St. James in Jackson, with visitation on Friday at Missionary Union Baptist Church in Columbus, and funeral services on Saturday at Southside Missionary Baptist Church. Montgomery is survived by her husband and three . She was 57 years old.

Vehicle overturns on I-20 West in Jackson
