Bill regarding MSMS at The W amended, passes through two committees

SUMMARY: Lawmakers are considering a proposal to merge Mississippi University for Women with Mississippi State University, following the passage of Senate Bill 2715. Initially, the bill aimed to move Mississippi School for Math and Science from W's campus to MSU, but an amendment kept MSMS at W due to tradition. The proposed merger would go into effect on July 1st, with MUW being called The W at Mississippi State University. MSU would also have to decide whether to keep MSMS in Columbus or move it to Starkville. The bill is set for a full Senate vote by March 16th, with further consideration in the House. Senate Bill 2715 passed both the Education and Appropriations Committees on Tuesday.
