Mississippi lawmakers under pressure to pass Medicaid expansion
SUMMARY: House and Senate negotiators for Medicaid expansion are facing pressure to reach a deal. After a public meeting with no progress, there is uncertainty and no further meetings scheduled. Mississippi residents, like Kathleen Oburn, are advocating for the House plan, which they believe is best for the state. They argue that many working families without health insurance deserve coverage. The House's proposed hybrid Medicaid expansion plan aims to cover those up to 138% of the federal poverty level while keeping more individuals on the federal Insurance Exchange. The ongoing negotiations will be further discussed on tonight's news at 6.

JTRAN drivers still have gripes
SUMMARY: The managing company of Jay Tran buses assured riders that there would be no disruption in service, despite the possibility of a driver strike. Many riders depend on the bus service for their daily transportation needs and were relieved that buses were running on schedule. The Jay Tran employees' union has grievances against the management company, claiming drivers are overworked and penalized for calling in sick. The mayor has scheduled a meeting with the workers to address these issues and urged them to consider the impact on riders before taking any further actions. Riders expressed concern about being caught in the middle of the dispute between management and labor.
