SUMMARY: A storm chase group traveled from Oklahoma City to Big Lake, TX and Midland/Odessa, encountering severe storms with potential baseball-sized hail. The storms lacked low-level shear but had decent mid & upper level shear that allowed for organization. They witnessed hailstones up to 3″ in size and experienced a separate severe storm on the way back to the hotel in Odessa, which produced an impressive mammatus cloud field. They captured a cool shot of departing storms and immediate clearing caused by a miniature area of low pressure. The group documented their experiences and shared images on social media.

Man shot, killed at Jackson gas station

SUMMARY: One man, Joshua Bennet, was killed in a shooting at a Jackson gas station. The incident occurred at a Shell gas station on West Northside Drive on May 17. An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting, but has not been identified. Detective Tommie Brown confirmed the arrest.
