Under Senate Bill 2580, proposed by Sen. Jeremy England, voters would cast ballots using a scantron that's counted electronically on election night. This aims to more flexibility for those with conflicting schedules on election day, eliminating the need for an excuse to vote early. Mail-in absentee voting will remain for qualifying individuals, with the military receiving ballots 45 days ahead. The bill now moves to the House and could be effective from January 1, 2026.
