“Goon Squad” soon to be sentenced
SUMMARY: The sentencing of 6 former Rankin County law enforcers, known as the ‘Goon Squad', is finally taking place after being postponed twice. The victims are seeking justice for the heinous acts committed against them, including tasing, waterboarding, and assault with a sexual device. Attorneys and activists are advocating for maximum sentencing to hold law enforcement accountable for their actions. The victims hope for an outcome that acknowledges the pain they endured and want the nation to realize the serious federal charges these men are facing. The sentencing will be a test of the justice system and could impact the fate of the remaining defendants. A petition to remove Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey from office has garnered over 30,000 signatures. Bailey refuses to step down.
