Fire destroys Mississippi John Hurt Museum
SUMMARY: The Mississippi John Hurt Museum in Carroll County was destroyed by a fire on February 21. The fire happened in the early morning hours, and the museum's historical significance prompted the response of several law enforcement agencies, including the ATF, FBI, MBI, and the Mississippi State Fire Marshal's Office. A Delta Electric service technician discovered the fire and notified first responders. Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker expressed sadness over the loss of the museum, which was also an official stop on the Mississippi Blues Trail. No foul play is suspected at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
