Stennis Space Center halfway through engine certification process for Artemis moon missions
SUMMARY: NASA has reached the halfway point of a 12-test series for RS-25 engine certification, essential for the Artemis moon missions. The sixth full-duration hot fire test was conducted at Stennis Space Center. These tests, which involved running the engine at power levels up to 113%, are crucial for certifying new RS-25 engines made by Aerojet Rocketdyne for use in the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket starting with Artemis V. The next phase includes installing a new certification nozzle for further testing. The SLS, which uses four RS-25 engines, will power future lunar missions and pave the way for human exploration on Mars.

Barron, who also runs a golf academy, faced a low point in 2009 when the PGA suspended him for doping—a ban lifted in 2010 after a legal dispute. Since joining the senior circuit in 2019, Barron, 54, has surpassed his career PGA Tour earnings, totaling over $4.2 million.
