Florence family builds community basketball court
SUMMARY: Since 1974, the McLin family has made a significant impact in Florence by creating a community basketball court. Sylvester McLin built the court to provide local children a place to play basketball. Despite facing challenges, including hurricane damage, the family came together, raised funds, and restored the court themselves. Over the years, it has served as a foundation for many athletes who went on to play in college and professionally. The court remains a gathering spot for basketball practice and games. Donations and game scheduling can be arranged through their Rainbow Child Care Center, located next to the court.
