Jackson wants faster response time from ambulance service
SUMMARY: Jackson leaders and residents are worried about the slow ambulance response time in the city. The contract the city has with AMR, the ambulance service provider, is valid until 2026. Hinds County won a lawsuit against the ambulance service provider last week. Citizens believe that federal legislation and hospital contracts may be impacting the response time. They are concerned that the slow response time is leading to loss of life. Residents feel that another ambulance service provider may be more accountable and responsive. AMR currently handles ambulance services in the capital city and Hinds County.
